With the theme of Audacity, I started by thinking about both the positive and negative sides of the word. One of my first thoughts was construction, like the audacity of starting so early in the morning. From there, I started noticing examples in my surroundings and capturing them.
I asked friends to send me photos and took my own around town, looking for moments that felt bold, disruptive, or out of place. I edited the photos to be oversaturated and grainy to add intensity and visual noise. I also used old, worn magazines, cutting out pieces that had a similar energy, and scanned them in to build on the collage-like, chaotic feel of the piece.
Since this poster was used for the official exhibition, I had to create other pieces like invites, animations and headers for articles. In collaboration with Shawna Mansfield, my professor. The whole exhibit was themed around the poster that included decoration, social media promoting the event and awards. She created these pieces using my elements and putting it all together.
